West Ham United fans on Twitter have been reacting as the club’s Premier League fixtures for the 2019/2020 season were announced on Thursday morning.

And they were far from happy when seeing who Manuel Pellegrini’s men will have to face in the opening match, two-time reigning champions Manchester City.

The Hammers have now been drawn against five of the league’s “Big Six” first up in the last five years – Tottenham Hotspur in 2014/2015, Arsenal in 2015/2016, Chelsea in 2017/2018, Liverpool in 2018/2019 and now the Citizens in 2019/2020.

They won’t particularly be looking forward to this matchup having been beaten by an aggregate score of 17-1 by Pep Guardiola’s team in their four visits to the London Stadium so far.

Some members of the Claret & Blue Army called the fixture selection process a fix after learning of the nightmare first game, whilst others alluded to the top-six first match record of recent years.
