ToggleWHAT HAPPENED?
Alongside a message in Spanish, English and French, Mbappe shared a series of images of his younger self dressed in Madrid gear from a visit to the club's facilities more than a decade ago. He met Cristiano Ronaldo and a team photo on the wall in the background of one of the pictures dates it to the 2012/13 season, when Mbappe was 13 going on 14.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Football's worst kept secret is over now that Madrid have announced the arrival of Mbappe on a five-year contract following his departure from Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent. But Madrid's statement confirming the news amounted to just 23 words, so Mbappe's social media post was the only place to get his immediate reaction upon sealing the transfer.

WHAT MBAPPE SAID
"A dream come true," Mbappe said. "So happy and proud to join the club of my dream, Real Madrid. Nobody can understand how excited I am right now. Can't wait to see you, Madridistas, and thanks for your unbelievable support. ¡Hala Madrid!"

WHAT NEXT FOR MBAPPE?
Mbappe can soon look forward to linking up with Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior to make a Real Madrid side that won the Champions League (again) on Saturday night even more frightening. But, first, comes Euro 2024 with France. Warm-up fixtures in the coming days against Luxembourg and Canada will be followed on June 17 with their opening Group D fixture against Austria in Dusseldorf.
